Questions
Are these actually rare?
Yes. We use 'rare' to mean books that require genuine effort to find — not merely books that are out of stock at Waterstones. Each one is sourced, inspected, and quietly judged.
What condition are the books in?
Each listing specifies condition honestly. 'Near fine' means very good. 'Spine slightly rolled' means we're being transparent. 'Previous owner notes' means you're getting a bonus opinion you didn't ask for.
Do you accept returns?
Yes, within 14 days if the book is materially not as described. We do not accept returns because you found it emotionally difficult. That is, in fact, a sign it's working.
Can I request a specific title?
You can. We make no promises, but we do take notes. Use the contact page and describe what you're after with as much detail as you can manage.
How do you ship?
Carefully. Books are wrapped in acid-free tissue and packed in rigid mailers. They arrive in better shape than most things sent through the post.
A note on condition grading
We grade every book ourselves before listing it. Fine means as-new. Near Fine means a careful reader owned it first. Very Good means it has lived a little. Good means it has really lived — and is priced accordingly.
All books are genuine. All descriptions are accurate. We have never once described a cracked spine as 'character.' We are not that kind of shop.
